Distance: 32 miles and 800 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
This short starts out with the long and medium routes and stays with them for the first 18 miles. They all head southeast through Irvine and Lake Forest before splitting. When this short splits off, it simply turns to head back northwest to return to the start. Within a few miles, it rejoins the return of both the medium and the long as they cross Irvine back to the start. This cuts out most of the major climbing of the other routes. On the map below, the blue indicates the common route with the medium while the pink indicates the individual portion of this short route.
