Distance: 65 miles and 2600 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
The metric century follows the clockwise century route for the first 33 miles. This means that starting in Thousand Oaks, we first go over to Potrero and ride down this very steep grade. Once down in the Oxnard area we ride to the coast and head north along the coast. Part way to Ventura, this route turns inland to head back to the Camarillo area. There is an early lunch in Oxnard and a later lunch in Camarillo. After lunch we take the long stretch east on Santa Rosa Road (which is gently uphill) to the Moorpark area. Then we climb over the Moorpark ridge and back down into Thousand Oaks. As you can see by the profile, although there is a little climbing at the start, most of the climbing is near the end. However, this climbing tends to be not as steep as the final climb on the counterclockwise route..
