Distance: 101 miles and 3400 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
We start with the well known trip north along PCH to the Oxnard area. We then begin a large counter-clockwise loop around the Ventura/Oxnard area. This takes us to Camarillo where we do a short climb (the spike at mile 35) and then continue into Ventura by an inland route. This involves a 2nd climb (the peak at mile 47), but this one tends to be more gradual. After we stop for lunch in downtown Ventura, we complete the loop on the coast and then retrace our route back down PCH back to Malibu. Other than the two climbs mentioned (which top out at only about 400 feet above sea level) the only other climbs are the several hills along PCH which you ride in both directions. These rarely take you above 150 feet above sea level. The route is fairly fast with most of the climbing in the first half.
