Each year a club member is honored for service to the club and to cycling. The tradition behind this prestigious “Los Angeles Wheelmen Achievement Award” began in 1963 to acknowledge the longest-distance rider of the year. It soon transformed into a service award. The name of each year’s honoree is engraved on the ever-growing trophy and the winner gets to keep the prize for a year. Jack Flynn, a club organizer, launched the tribute and boldly named it for himself. Ironically, he never earned a Jack Flynn Award, but these people did:
