A Recreational Bicycling Club
ABOUT THE LOS ANGELES WHEELMEN We are bicyclists who enjoy the pleasure of riding with friends. We are not a racing club, and we welcome members of all abilities. We offer easier, moderate and difficult rides. We hold some special rides, and in late June we offer the Grand Tour, a 24-hour ride of 120+, 200, 300 or 400 miles. At our social events, we make up for all the calories burned while riding. Our monthly newsletter, "The Gooseneck," contains a descriptive ride schedule and much other news. Newcomers are welcome to try a few of our rides before deciding whether to join. Helmets are mandatory on all rides. |

| Newcomer's rides. Sunday, 9:00 a.m.- April 21, May 19. Our (mostly) monthly Newcomer's rides are intended to introduce riders to club or group riding. They're for riders who want to be more comfortable on group rides or on city streets with cars. The course will be decided by the leader based on the group’s cycling experience and time constraints. The rides are rather flat, possibly 15 miles or so, and include a break for snacks. Everyone stays together and no one is ever left behind. If you want to ride farther and faster and to more interesting places around the Westside, the Newcomer Ride is the perfect start. (If you're a more experienced rider, you may be invited to join the regular Corner ride.) START: THE “CORNER.” Olympic Blvd, 1 block west of La Cienega in Beverly Hills. From the Santa Monica Fwy (10), off & north La Cienega - 1½ miles, L – Olympic, 1 block to R - Le Doux. Arrive 8:45 a.m. Bring a signed waiver, cash for snacks, patch kit or spare tube. Helmets required. Information: Kermit Ganier, (310) 367-0458. |
| Century Challenge This is another way to challenge yourself and/or compete with other club members. We've updated the challenge from last year and added options. Click on "rides" | "Century Challenge" in the menu above for complete information, and see our monthly ride schedule for scheduling information. |
